NLCA Inter - National Specialty 2007 The Norwegian Lundehund Club of America, Inc. is very pleased to announce that, for the first time in our Club's history, the National Specialty Show will be INTERNATIONAL!! We are working with our members in Canada to produce a spectacular event that you will not want to miss. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for NLCA members only - an International National ! This event will take place at the Kingston Memorial Centre in the City of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Kingston is located in southeastern Ontario with highway and flight access to accommodate our members. Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 23rd, make sure your passport is current, and prepare for an adventure of international magnitude. You will have the chance to meet NLCA lunde lovers from the USA and Canada who will come together for a weekend of joyous celebration of our common bond - the little brown dog we all know and love, our Lundehunds !
"TIME SENSITIVE RESPONSE NEEDED"
To facilitate the mailing of premium lists, entry forms and other show information we are asking those planning to attend, whether or not you will be entering a dog (dogs), to let either myself or Debby know by the end of February (certainly no later than the end of the first week of March) if you think you might be able to attend. Even if you are not absolutely certain you can make it, tell us "yes" so that you'll be sure to receive future mailings. Only those members who indicate that they may be able to attend will receive future mailings about the show. There will be a deadline for receipt of entries of approximately one month prior to the date of the show.
*~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ * CLASSES, PRIZES AND TRAVEL PLANS There will be the usual classes offered at a National Show and what we think will be something different in the way of prizes. This year's prizes are unique as they will be done by a well-known local artist. Susan Sweet specializes in dog and horse paintings on wood and she has done prizes for dog shows in the past. Maps, border crossing information, highway routes, airline access, motel/campground details and other pertinent information will be sent only to those NLCA MEMBERS advising us that they plan (hope) to attend. We need to know if you expect to attend so that your individual piece of artwork, a thank you gift from the NLCA, will be ready and waiting for you when you arrive. That's right, each member who attends will receive a gift.

BEST FEET COMPETITION this special class is open to all dogs that are entered in any of the Regular Classes or Non-Regular Classes. Conformation dogs and Altered dogs will each have their own Competition and Awards.
ATTENTION first time show goers: If you have always wanted to show your Lundehund but did not feel comfortable in a formal show setting then THIS is the show for you!!! We offer a very relaxed setting; attire for the events is very casual. We took great effort to find judges who not only knew the Lundehund but who acknowledged that our Specialty will be open to members who may not ever have shown a dog before. If your dog will walk on a leash and you can walk in a circle, then YOU will be able to successfully compete in any of the events. Our judges will give you every opportunity to present your dog at its finest. All you need to do is walk your dog on a leash. YOU CAN DO IT!
ALTERED LUNDEHUNDS ~PETS~ (SPAYED OR NEUTERED)
WILL HAVE THEIR OWN CONFORMATION SHOWS USING THE SAME CLASSES AND JUDGES AS THE SPECIALTY SHOWS. THE SHOWS WILL COMMENCE AT THE END OF THE SPECIALTY SHOW. THE ALTERED PET SHOWS WILL ALSO HAVE A BEST FEET COMPETITION.
PET FESTIVAL FUN FOR ALL CLASSES
Puffin Tunnel Races, beginner, intermediate and advanced The tunnel systems will be available for practice Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday.
Sardine Search –a timed event Your dog will be timed as it searches for sardines hidden in a home-like setting .
Pet-ability is your dogs ability to be petted by our judges, Dr. Nora and Dr. David, and the petting is linked to how fast the tail will wag!
Lundehund-Wanna-Be – for those ‘other’ four legged creatures you may have in your home. A class just for them so they do not have to be left behind while you and your Lundehund go to the party!
RIBBONS & PRIZES There will be ribbons and prizes for each dog that is entered in the show or pet festival.
Rosettes, Etched glass trophies, an autographed Lundehund book from author Nicole Kamphausen, blankets, toys, treats and much more.
Donations are still being accepted and all are appreciated. Does your lunde have a special toy that he loves, a favorite blanket, cookies……. consider donating one of those special items to a lucky winner of the show or pet festival. Of course, a donation of $$ is always a crowd pleaser. Those that contribute to the show will be listed in the Catalog with many thanks from all of us. Donations can be mailed to: Lundehund National Specialty 9102 W. Brimfield Jubilee Rd. Dunlap, IL 61525

The NCA phone line is (703) 451-1948. SO COME JOIN US FOR A RELAXING, FRIENDLY, FUN-FILLED WEEKEND OF DOG SHOWS. WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT THE NCA? The NCA has a unique dog show concept – TWO TIERS: Non-Professional and Professional. Each tier has the same classes: Puppy, Bred-By, Open, Winners, BOB, Groups and BIS. There are EIGHT Groups in each tier: SPORTING, HOUND, WORKING, TERRIER, TOY, NON-SPORTING, HERDING AND RARE BREED. Each Group winner will compete for BIS in their respective tier. In the Groups, the Non-Professional winner and the Professional winner compete for SUPREME GROUP. The climax of the show is when the Non-Professional BIS winner and the Professional BIS winner meet to compete for SUPREME BEST IN SHOW. ADDITIONAL DIFFERENCES: • An altered dog can compete in the regular classes as long as the breed standard does not indicate it to be a disqualification. • Even if it does, the NCA provides the Purebred Companion Dog Class, a class for purebred rescue and /or any other purebred dog, whereby and for whatever reason a purebred dog cannot compete in the regular classes. Points are awarded by the number of dogs exhibited up through Supreme Best In Show. Maximum points awarded at one show is 35. 100 points needed for an NCA championship title. A minimum of 5 points is awarded for Winners Dog/Bitch and a minimum of 15 points for a Group win. Technically, a CH title can be achieved in three shows! The event announcement, entry and registration forms can be downloaded at www.nationalcanine.com and then click on the UPCOMING EVENTS link on the left. We look forward to providing you this unique dog show concept and invite you to join us for a fun and relaxing two days of showing dogs. Any questions can be directed to NCA at karen@nationalcanine.com or by calling (703) 451-1948. Wallace H. Pedé NCA President/CEO
